Profit = price − GST in price − (fees + shipping) − product cost − other costs − ads. The 18% GST on marketplace fees (₹18.00 here) is claimed back as input tax credit, so it is not counted.

Of every 100 orders dispatched: 74 kept, 18 returned, 8 RTO. A return costs ₹149.95 and an RTO costs ₹149.95, so profit per order dispatched is ₹239.61.

Amazon.in rates were read from its public fee page on 5 Nov 2026: referral fees by category and price band, closing fees effective 7 Sept 2026, and weight-handling fees effective 16 Mar 2026. Amazon adds 18% GST to all of them. FC pick and pack follows the page's formula on billed weight; the page does not say whether actual or billed weight applies. Not included: FC storage and removal fees, Heavy & Bulky weight-handling tables, programme fees, and any tax collected at source. Meesho and Flipkart do not publish full rate cards, so their fees come from you. Fees change often: check the figure in your seller account before you price a product.

Notes for This Preset

Flipkart's seller page says it charges 0% commission on every product priced below ₹1,000, so a ₹999 pair of shoes pays no commission (checked 5 November 2026). Flipkart publishes no rupee amounts for its fixed, collection and shipping fees, so this example enters a shipping fee of ₹100 before GST as a placeholder: replace it with the figure from your seller dashboard. With a ₹400 product cost, ₹25 packing and 5% ad spend (₹49.95), and 5% GST in the price, profit is ₹376.48 per delivered order (39.6% margin) on the ₹951.43 left after GST. With example return and RTO rates of 18% and 8%, profit per order dispatched is ₹239.61 (25.2%). From ₹1,000 the commission depends on the category, except Fashion, which Flipkart lists at 0%, so check your dashboard before pricing above that line.

How can I raise my profit on this product?

Three levers matter most. Price: Amazon's closing fee and many referral rates step up at ₹300, ₹500 and ₹1,000, so check which band your price sits in. Returns: every return or RTO costs at least the outbound shipping fee, so a lower return rate raises profit faster than a small price cut. Fulfilment: compare Easy Ship, self-ship, Seller Flex and Fulfilled by Amazon in the table above, because the closing and shipping fees differ for each.
