Amazon.in rates were read from its public fee page on 5 Nov 2026: referral fees by category and price band, closing fees effective 7 Sept 2026, and weight-handling fees effective 16 Mar 2026. Amazon adds 18% GST to all of them. FC pick and pack follows the page's formula on billed weight; the page does not say whether actual or billed weight applies. Not included: FC storage and removal fees, Heavy & Bulky weight-handling tables, programme fees, and any tax collected at source. Meesho and Flipkart do not publish full rate cards, so their fees come from you. Fees change often: check the figure in your seller account before you price a product.
Frequently Asked Questions & How It Works
Quick answers on Amazon.in, Meesho and Flipkart seller fees, GST and returns. Fees quoted were read from the marketplaces' own pages on 5 November 2026.
How do I calculate my profit on Amazon.in?
Take the selling price, remove the GST inside it if you are GST-registered, then subtract Amazon's referral fee, closing fee and weight-handling (shipping) fee, your product cost and any packing or ad cost. Example from Amazon's fee tables on 5 November 2026: a shirt sold at ₹499 through Easy Ship at the Standard STEP level, 300 g, with 5% GST. Net revenue is ₹475.24 (₹499 less ₹23.76 of GST). The referral fee is ₹0 (shirts pay 0% up to ₹1,000), the closing fee is ₹23 and the weight-handling fee is ₹55, so fees are ₹78. With a ₹150 product cost and ₹20 packing, profit is ₹227.24, a 47.8% margin on net revenue. The 18% GST Amazon adds on its fees (₹14.04 here) is claimed back as input tax credit by a registered seller.
What fees does Amazon.in charge sellers?
Four fees plus GST. The referral fee is a percentage of the selling price that depends on the category and price band; Amazon's page lists 235 category lines. The closing fee is a flat amount by price band and fulfilment channel: since 7 September 2026, Easy Ship pays ₹2, ₹23, ₹48 and ₹79 for prices up to ₹300, up to ₹500, up to ₹1,000 and above, self-ship pays ₹20, ₹26, ₹51 and ₹101, and Seller Flex pays ₹7, ₹13, ₹38 and ₹69. The weight-handling fee covers shipping and is charged on the higher of actual and volumetric weight; for Easy Ship at the Standard STEP level it is ₹55 for the first 500 g, ₹75 up to 1 kg, ₹112 up to 2 kg and ₹34 for each extra kg (rates effective 16 March 2026). Orders fulfilled from an Amazon centre also pay a pick and pack fee starting at ₹17. Amazon adds 18% GST to all of these.
Is the Amazon.in referral fee really zero under ₹1,000?
Not in every category. Amazon advertises zero referral fee on over 12.5 crore products, and 169 of the 235 category lines on its fee page charge 0% all the way up to ₹1,000. The other 66 charge something on part of that range: Mobile phones pay 5% and Laptops 6% at any price, Camera lenses 7% up to ₹1,000, Mattresses 25.5% up to ₹500, and Beauty - Fragrance 14% between ₹500 and ₹1,000. Above ₹1,000 most categories charge: Shirts 21%, and Large Furniture 15.5% up to ₹15,000 and 11% above that. Because the rate steps at price bands, check the band your price sits in before you set it.
What does Meesho charge sellers?
According to Meesho's supplier pages on 5 November 2026: 0% commission in every category, no registration fee, no collection fee on prepaid or cash-on-delivery orders, and no penalty for cancellations. Meesho charges for shipping and adds 18% GST to the shipping charge; its pages publish no rate card, so the calculator asks you to enter the charge from your Supplier Panel. If a customer returns an item, you pay a return shipping fee based on its weight. An RTO (an order that could not be delivered) carries no return shipping fee. Meesho Ads are optional and not available to sellers without a regular GSTIN.
What does Flipkart charge, and why does the calculator ask for my rates?
Flipkart's seller page says it charges 0% commission on every product priced below ₹1,000 in any category, and 0% across the whole Fashion category at any price (checked 5 November 2026). For other categories, the commission, a fixed fee that depends on your seller tier (Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze), and the collection and shipping fees are shown only inside the seller dashboard, with no public rupee table. So the calculator takes those numbers from you and adds 18% GST to them.
How do returns and RTO affect my margin?
Every return or RTO costs you at least the outbound shipping fee. The calculator assumes you lose the outbound shipping fee, your ad spend, the return or RTO shipping you enter and any other loss such as damaged stock, and that the other marketplace fees are refunded. That is an editable assumption, not a marketplace policy. Example: with 10% returns and 5% RTO on the ₹499 shirt above, ₹40 return shipping and ₹10 of other loss per return or RTO, the ₹227.24 profit per delivered order falls to ₹179.40 per order dispatched.
Does being GST-registered change the result?
Yes. A registered seller treats the GST inside the price as tax collected for the government and claims back the 18% GST on marketplace fees as input tax credit. A seller who is not registered counts the whole price as revenue and bears the GST on fees as a cost. On the ₹499 shirt above that is ₹227.24 registered against ₹236.96 not registered. This is a simplified view, not tax advice, so check your own position with a chartered accountant.
How often do the fees change?
Often. Amazon.in changed its closing fees on 7 September 2026, its weight-handling fees on 16 March 2026 and some referral rates, such as Tyres & Rims and Fans, on 10 June 2026. The date at the top of the calculator is the last time the fees were read from the marketplaces' pages. Check the figure in your own seller account before you price a product.
